John D. Owen, CPA joined Ogle International Tax Advisors in December 2003.  He has over 14 years of accounting, tax and finance experience.  His core focus with Ogle International Tax Advisors is consulting corporate and individual clients on their U.S. international tax compliance requirements and on various transactional matters.

His U.S. international tax practice includes working with and advising U.S. exporters in forming Interest-Charge Domestic International Sales Corporations (IC-DISCs) and the related tax compliance requirements.  Additionally, he works on compliance issues involving U.S. Controlled Foreign Corporations (CFCs), “check the box” classification rules applying to foreign entities, tax withholding filings for non-resident individuals and the earned income exclusion for U.S. citizens working abroad.
  
He started his career in 1992 working for Deloitte & Touche, LLP in their tax department.  In 1995, he accepted a position with Merrill Lynch Credit Corporation assisting in the management of their structured finance reporting and tax requirements.  In 2001, he accepted a position with Homeside Lending, Inc. (then a subsidiary of National Australia Bank) assisting in the management of their various capital markets and international finance matters.

He has worked with clients and prior employers involved in industries including agriculture, mortgage banking, manufacturing, not-for-profits, real estate development and retail sales among others.  He has extensive experience in contract review especially relating to structured transactions and outsourcing arrangements.

His educational background is as follows:
